Mayor Gavin Newsom today issued the following statement after the Port Commission voted unanimously to approve the resolution supporting the Host City and Venue Agreement for hosting the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco:
“The Port Commission today reaffirmed that San Francisco is the best place on earth to defend the America’s Cup and bring a potential $1.4 billion economic boost to the region. The public and community enthusiasm for hosting the America’s Cup has been tremendous, demonstrated at the Port Commission today by the broad support for the bid from local residents, merchants, union representatives and maritime enthusiasts.
